If in England there were tables for "Pyramid", I, likely, would play from time to time, but only for entertainment. Or, more likely, for maintenance of a sports rage … we already have a pool and снукер. I do not think that Russian billiards can make it a competition ».

«I have taken a great interest снукером at nine-year age because I very much liked to watch competitions on TV – especially when Alex Higgins acted. This player has simply inspired me! When to me it was executed ten years, I have received for Christmas as a present from parents снукерный a table in the size six on three foots. I think, subsequently they often were sorry about the act as if I wished to play, it was necessary to clean furniture from a room and to release a place for a table.
However, parents all the same supported my hobby, and the father even helped to master game elements. But, certainly, they always wanted, that their son of more time gave to study. To tell the truth, I and did not realise the potential at school – too often played the fool, and instead of preparation for examinations was engaged снукером.
To me was about thirteen years when I have played on a full-size table and has got the first кий. Game has completely grasped me – every day after school I went by a bicycle to train in club under the name «Woodfield Sports and Social». There all were more senior me, but soon I have made friends with other children on whom then looked as at great players. And in a year already it was possible to me to overcome them. It was healthy!
As to the further development of my career in England I began to play as the semiprofessional. Victories on tournaments «Pontins Open Plate» and «Pro-Am» were the largest results. I always well acted at the British competitions аматоров. Has won an individual title in «Division One», passing in Vest Midlands. Has made more thousand сотенных breaks. And a series in 145 points was my highest indicator, I have made it four times. My the most memorable снукерный the match is a victory over Jayson Ferguson in a semi-final «Midlands Pro-Am». Ferguson at that time was on the seventeenth position in a world rating.
I have started to be engaged in a pool during the «снукерного the period». Anybody and never learnt me to it. I was the absolute self-educated person. The first professional tournament on a pool which I have won, passed in London and was called «Woolwich Open» from a series «Pro 9 Вall». In general in England this widespread enough phenomenon when снукеристы are switched to a pool. One wish to try taste of new game – so to say, to throw down a challenge to themselves. And others feel that cannot become successful in снукере and believe, as if the pool will be easier. But, should assure you, it not so. The lung in a pool is not present anything.
On a private experience I can tell that a difference between professional снукеристом and пулистом the huge.
Снукеристы respect the contenders more and during a match behave where сдержанней. Differently, they observe etiquette. With пулистами it is much more difficult – often there are disputable situations when you try to destabilise dishonest game and disrespect. Names I will not name. My nickname in the pool world – The Chancer (In Russian it is meant «by The one who tests good luck». – the Comment of the editor.). I have received it during qualification on the World championship in Cardiff. I did not have a concept as to name, and the friend has offered: «And take a nickname« The Chancer »! It reflects your character and how you play». Upon that also have settled.
To the highest achievements I will carry qualification on the World championship in Cardiff of 2003. I could overcome a long tournament way. On that time I remember Evgenie Staleva from Russia which has hardly managed to bypass. But, perhaps, tournament «Thailand Masters» in Bangkok was the most successful my performance. It has collected sixty four strong players from Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand … the Ending showed on TV, and I have won it – 11:10 … such disturbing account left. As to the World championship this year I participate in it the fifth consecutive time.
At home, in England, I have constructed a billiard room, but have overlooked with the sizes, and it has turned out insufficiently spacious. Some years there stood my training table. Then I have decided to clean it and to transfer the base in local club. But now I would like to be again closer to the house. Therefore I now am in process of expansion of the room to return there a table and to practise silence and rest.
When ask, who my favourite player, I always answer that Erl Striklend. Though actually I do not have favourite. Simply it is pleasant to me, as he is able to entertain spectators. However, after ours with it of a match couple of years back I was ready to refuse the words. When we played, he created around so a lot of movement that it was simply impossible to concentrate. And all the same I respect him – it brings an element of show in billiards and involves crowds of the spectators waiting for sensations.
On a question on how to become the outstanding billiard-player, I will answer the following: it is necessary to be purposeful, to devote itself to game and even a little to become reserved. To think of billiards, to eat it, to sleep it, to breathe it … However, for me there are other fish in the sea. Yes, I love a pool and always I try to struggle to the last. But finally it only game. Remarkable, interesting game. And while you are respectful to it and to the contender, it will bring to you pleasure.
At last I will add: it is not necessary to complain, when the Lady Good luck turns away from you. Next time it necessarily will help. But if you cannot be reconciled with failures, refuse billiards and find to yourself other employment.
